What do you need to plan for a camping trip?

Planning a weekend getaway camping trip is easy! That’s the beauty of Camping. We’ll go though camping gear, food and water, and the exciting part…destination!

Shelter:

A good quality canvas swag or tent is a must! Swags are easy to set up and pack up and are also super easy to store away. Swags come in single beds and double beds making them ideal for both couples and singles.

It can sometimes be hard to find a quality canvas tent that’s also easy to set up. Safari style tents fix both these problems! Peg down the outsides and stand up the one center pole and you’re done! Safari tents can fit two double beds making them ideal for young families or for couples.

If swags and tents aren’t your cup of tea it might be time to invest in a caravan or camping trailer.

Fires, chairs, and radio:

One of the best parts about camping is chilling out in your camp chair by the fire listening to some music. So do yourself a favor and buy a nice comfortable camp chair and radio/speaker. A radio or bluetooth speaker is great to have on in the background while you’re nice and toasty by the fire! If you’re not competent at starting campfires you can purchase fire starters at most supermarkets to make your life a bit easier. While a good heavy duty wood bag isn’t essential, they’re always handy to have for the best camp experience possible!

Food and water:

Food and water are obviously very important. Storing food is easy! Classic esky and ice or a car fridge for the cold supplies. Clear top canvas storage bags for the dry supplies. Done!

If you love a bit of organization in your life, collapsible camping hampers are perfect.

When it comes to camp cooking a butane gas cooker with a pot and pan is a must! While cast iron camp ovens aren’t essentials, nothing beats a camp meal cooked over coals.

You need water for both drinks and also for washing dishes. You can store drinking water in multiple drink bottles from home. For cooking and washing dishes a water drum is perfect.

Destination:

Now for the fun part, destination!

The world is your oyster. Today’s world is full of free websites, social media pages and apps designed to help eager campers like yourself find free and paid sites all over Australia. Most of these platforms have reviews you can read over to see if the destinations are right for you.

Happy camping!
